Scalloped Ice

A couple of days ago, the weather was perfect for a walk in Griffith Woods. This was the first time I had been to the woods for the winter, and what a treat! The temperature was mild, -4 °C , the sun was shining, but low enough to cast interesting shadows, and there was no wind. Within a few minutes of starting my walk, I came across an open area with all the grasses and low bushes covered in hoar frost. I took several pictures there, then continued walking to one of the streams in the woods. I was stunned at the beauty of the area. I became quite excited and started taking pictures with every few steps I took! The disc in my camera quickly filled and I had to start deleting past pictures to make room for new ones! I had to leave, reluctantly, when the sun started to set, but I will certainly be back again soon!

This image really caught my eye. It was like a flat mini iceberg but with such a gorgeous scalloped edge, and this was mirrored in the ice by the bank. The frost and ice combination was calling out to be photographed. So I did.
