This week I spent a couple of days in Edmonton, and explored Mill Creek. This is normally a very shallow creek flowing through a ravine, but I found that there had been a blockage of the outlet so that water levels had risen incrementally, freezing, thawing and freezing again and again so that the ice encroached on to the bank and overflowed the trails. I love the milky appearance of the ice close to the shore, the ice patterns in the central stream, and the sweep of the creek. This area was truly a winter wonderland.
