Runaway Caves

This is another picture from Jamaica, another abstraction! We were on an outing to see the Green Grotto caves, which were in actuality two seperate caverns, one called the Runaway Caves, and the other called the Green Grotto. These are karst caves with beautiful limestone formations and a few stalagmites and stalagtites. Bats were fairly abundant and active. I took several pictures of some of the formations that looked promising, and this was the one that I liked the most. Once again, I found that turning the picture upside down made for a more exciting interpretation. The white limestone formation suddenly appeared like soft billowy petals of a flower; all the dark lines sweeping into the centre. I will not explain what those dark lines really were, but I am sure that most viewers will guess what they are! As with most abstractions, the viewer is encouraged to explore the image and come to their own conclusions.
