For some time now, I have been thinking about how to encourage viewers to look at my web site on a fairly regular basis.
In November last year, I attended a workshop run by Brooks Jensen, the editor of LensWork. He had already done a project called "100 New Prints" and he had just started a new project called "The New 100 Print Project". This sounded like a great idea, and Brooks encouraged us to try a similar project.
I decided that I would try to produce at least one new photograph each week and send what I would call "New Picture of the Week" to all my contacts each week.
I was amazed at the response I got to this, and I can hardly wait to send out my New Picture each week, and to read all the responses that come in! This project forces me to get out on a regular basis to do photography, and it has also been a great learning experience.
Putting this project on my web site, allows anyone coming to this project late, to look back and see all of the pictures, and it also allows regular viewers to revue the project whenever they feel like.
I plan to continue this project for at least a year.
[This project finished on 27 September 2010 after 52 weeks of photos.
Sometime in the future I may decide to repeat the idea of producing weekly photos for a full year.]
